Matrix Hotel is proud to announce a partnership with The Mustard Seed Edmonton. Matrix Hotel has begun collecting partially consumed bottled amenities, including shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and shower gel, from guest rooms and donating them to The Mustard Seed Edmonton for use by those in need, in addition to unwanted linen and terry items. The measure is designed in part to actively engage in supporting local community efforts, and in part as an initiative of Matrix Hotel's comprehensive Green Program, to prevent unnecessarily disposing of bottled items that can otherwise be reused and recycled. Unwanted linen and terry items include luxury bedding and towels that are otherwise perfectly fine, but may contain a small tear, fray, or discolouring.
"We are really, really thrilled to make this partnership a reality," Matrix Hotel General Manager, Nicholas Wilson, says. "We initially approached The Mustard Seed Edmonton early last year, but their facilities didn't allow them to handle the sheer volume of amenity items collected on a weekly basis from our departing guests. We understand they've expanded their storage facilities and as such, are now able to effectively manage the volume of items we can donate. With regards to the linen and terry items we're donating, they're typically of a very high quality and perfectly good products, but if they even have a small tear or a slight fray, we remove them from circulation, so why not donate them to a deserving local facility, such as The Mustard Seed Edmonton? I have had the pleasure of arranging such partnerships between hotels and local facilities like The Mustard Seed Edmonton in my past career, and it's such a great arrangement; we can be more environmentally conscious and not fill the landfills with perfectly good, luxury products, and those in need certainly appreciate and enjoy these items." Amenities collected by the hotel are checked to ensure there are no obvious signs of tampering or contamination, and only bottled amenities that can be re-sealed are being donated.
